March Baking Update
Hi Everyone! It has been a while since I have blogged because of gymnastics and school, but I am back with an update. Despite being busy, I always find time to bake. Most recently I made some croissants with a new recipe. This recipe made them lighter, and crispier. I noticed two main differences in the way I made these: I used high-quality European butter, and before putting them in the oven, I sprinkled some water on the pan to create steam. These changes created some delectable croissants. The pictures of the process and results are below.
In addition to the croissants, I have been baking bread and cookies for my neighbors. At my high school, I am co-president of the Hands Across the Globe service trip club. This club has planned a trip to Costa Rica this summer to help a local school, and sea turtle conservation center. To be able to go on the trip, each person is trying to raise $2000, for the flight, rooming, food, and 20% of the funds are donated to the school and conservation center in Costa Rica to help. I created a flyer that I handed out to my neighbors, to ask them if I could provide a batch of cookies, or a loaf of bread for Sunday dinner, in exchange for a donation. The pictures of the flyer, bread, and cookies are below.
